Contacts & Solutions

Contact lenses are a great alternative to glasses as long as they are taken care of correctly.  Contact lenses are medical devices that require proper handling, wearing, cleaning and replacing.  When they are abused the risk of eye inflammation, infection, scarring and even blindness significantly rises.  Contact lenses range in sizes and shapes; therefore, you must be properly fitted with the lenses that work for your eyes the best…they are specific to each individual.

Many options are available in the market today, ranging in the type of material they are made out of, to the replacement schedule and even the optical quality.  Dr. Wilkens likes to fit new technology lenses that allow more oxygen to reach the eye and are more healthy for the eyes.  We have a multitude of options available as trials here in the office.  If we don’t have your prescription or size in the office we are happy to order it with a short 2-3 day turn around time.  Because contact lenses are much more specific to fit each individual, the contact lens portion of your exam is not covered under your routine coverage and an additional fitting fee is required.  Dr. Wilkens will take whatever time is needed to teach you how to use and care for the lenses, to find the type that fit you best and that you are happy with.  If this takes one or 10 visits, there is not extra fee above the fitting…we have a guaranteed contact lens success program.  Dr. Wilkens has had great success fitting a variety of lenses including multifocal (bifocal) lenses.

New contact lens technology is always being released, so if you have previously been told you are a non-candidate for contacts there now may be an option for you.  Call today to make your appointment at 515-259-9009.
